Summer’s Mantle
Psalm 100:5 – “For God is sheer beauty, all generous in love, loyal always and ever.” [MSG]
I have always been fascinated by the beauty of trees. In my painting [oils on canvas], I have tried to express my love of God’s creation.
There is a beautiful poem written by American writer and poet 1886 to 1918 Joyce Kilmer it is called ”Trees” and some of my favourite lines in it are ”A tree that looks at God all day and lifts her leafy arms to pray… a tree that may in summer wear a nest of robins in her hair.”
Trees are mentioned many times in the Scriptures… Revelation 22:2 “…down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.” (NIV)
Thank you Lord… it is such sheer joy to paint Your creation… the beauty and amazing colours found in the trees, the flowers, the skies in Your wonderful world. Amen.
